The Spirit of Truth

What is the spirit of truth? John 14:15-16 "If you love me you will obey what I command and I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - The Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him." The Spirit of Truth is another name for the Holy Spirit. Once you accept Jesus into your heart/mind and believe, the Spirit of Truth, or the Holy Spirit, also called the Holy Ghost, comes into your life. Some other known names are Comforter and Counselor.

Once you become a new creation in Christ, the Holy Spirit becomes one with you.  John 8:31-32 "To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  Before we were able to receive the Holy Spirit, an important thing had to happen to Jesus here when he was human.  He had to die; then God had to raise Jesus from the grave.  Then came the special gift to give the disciples and all who believe in Him.  It is written: John 20:21-22 Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you!  As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."  And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set your free." 

When Jesus speaks, he often says "I tell you the truth" because he is ALL truth, and nothing is more powerful or fulfilling than the truth. Evil will lie and twist the truth. Stay away from lying and those who tell lies. Show others the truth by showing them Jesus, who is all truth.  There is freedom and newness from being saved; and, as believers, we are to tell the truth.  Our words are important because we belong to Christ and are sealed by the Holy Spirt.  What comes out of your mouth shows what you have in your heart. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit always tell the truth. There is no lying, no deception, no manipulating, no trickery, and no evil involved.  We must be careful with our words because many are trying to twist the truth. Test everything according to the word of God, the Bible, because it never changes.  Many are trying to make evil look good.  Evil is evil and good is good.  It is that simple.  We ourselves make it hard by what we see around us.  We must be careful to avoid falling into this trap.  We can sometimes be our own worst enemy by what we see, hear and negative thoughts so be on alert by the power of the Holy Spirit.  We as Christians need to follow Jesus' example and with the Holy Spirit with in us this should not be too difficult because He will guide us into all truth.  When lies are involved or someone asks you to lie...STOP!!!  The conviction from the Holy Spirt living inside you, since you are born again, will tell you the truth. Be sure not to ever waiver from the truth.

Garment of the evil one

The garment of the evil one comes in many forms.  He is always looking to catch you when you are at your weakest.  Some of these tricks are evil spirits, evils of the world, your flesh or sinful nature, all false gods, witchcraft, tarot cards, palm readings, psychics, astrologers, other false religions, other false religious practices even ones that act like they are bringing you healings(the only healer is our Lord Jesus Christ by God our Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit), and ceremonies. We do not need any of these as believers.  We need only the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the Lord of our lives, and  nothing else matters.  Only Jesus can be our master. 

Be on the watch because our own flesh/sinful nature can become our worst enemy.  Yes, this can happen by what we see, hear and even negative thoughts so be on alert by the power of the Holy Spirit.  2 Timothy 2:15-16 "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.  Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly." Jesus teaches that we can have only one master because we will love one and hate the other.  It is written, Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters.  Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."  Do not partake in any of these things. Stay clear of all kinds of evils. They are thieves that come to steal away the truth from our hearts.  It does not matter what culture you're from, what color your skin is, how you may look or how old you are; the gift of salvation is available to each and every one of us, so come and drink from the living water that never runs dry!
