We have to make an important decision in life. We choose to live either for the Lord or for the world. Because worldly interests constantly tug at us, trying to pull us away from the interest of the Lord, it is important to dedicate some alone time with God each day to meditate on His Word and to ask Him to speak into our heart.
What is your relationship like with God? Think about this: Iif you were in a relationship with someone and you did all the talking, yet were never silent to listen to the other person, what kind of relationship would that be? It probably would not be a rewarding one, and it probably would not last very long. Our relationship with God requires us to pray, but we also need to listen. Meditating upon God's Word for 30 minutes, 15 minutes, or even 5 minutes a day can bring everlasting benefits to your Christian walk with God.
Replace Things with God: Putting aside something of the world that is taking your time-- such as TV, a book, a movie, or a game etc,. will also bring you the benefit of having a closer relationship with Jesus. You will find great value to your family when you are in a deep relationship with God. You may have to wait until the kids are in bed, or you may have to sacrifice watching a late night show, or you may have to get up a little earlier in the morning, but you will surely soon find that you have made a very wise choice.
Preparing for the day: When you wake up in the morning, praise God for who He is and thank Him for the day ahead. Ask Him to use you in your daily activities in a way that pleases Him and renew your mind mentioned Romans 12:2 "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Then, put on the full armor of God as directed in Ephesians 6:10-13: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." This is a great sequence to use depending upon how your day is going. By doing these things, you will be able to stand your ground, you can be ready for service and can run the race set out for you by Him. Remember to spend some time reading the Bible each new day.
When will your life start really changing for the better? When you choose the Lord's interest and His will to be done in your life. His Holy Spirit within you will guide you down the right path. The Holy Spirit and the Holy Bible is your sword; use it to defeat all the challenges in your life. Turn to His book daily; it will bring you comfort, encouragement, inspiration, knowledge, wisdom and peace; whenever you have a difficult obstacle in your way, it will also bring you help on the way. The world always was against the Lord, pleasing the flesh or sinful nature and living in evil which is not pleasing to God. Individuals who walk with the Lord every day do great things that help in shaping our world and making it a better place. 1John 2:15-17 reads, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."
The world and its sinful and fleshly desires do not please the Lord and go against the many blessings that come about when people choose to follow Him rather than their worldly desires. It is written a number of times in the Bible. The world and God's people are always contrasting with each other. We need to go to the Lord in prayer daily, asking Him to reveal to us through the Holy Spirit the things we can do to bring about change in the lives of those we know who are not saved. The world is becoming more and more corrupt every day. We need to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and be living examples of the victorious life everyone can have when we belong to the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:21-25: "For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks (Gentiles), Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength."
